One family. Three ways to keep watch.

Scammers now sound like the people we love. KinShield reads what a call or message asks you to believe and do, and shows the exact words that worry it.

A scam that sounds like your grandson is still a scam. KinShield never judges the voice. It looks for the seven warning signs: secrecy, a sudden emergency, an odd way to pay, and the rest.

Every flag comes with the exact words that raised it, so you can see why, not just a percentage.

KinModelOur own tiny scam model, published with every caveat

KinModel is a small classifier we trained ourselves: TF-IDF plus logistic regression, 119 KB of int8 weights, scored in pure Python inside AWS Lambda.

It runs inside KinBot, where it gives a fast, cheap second opinion next to the cited Bedrock check (KinVoice doesn't use it yet). It is not an LLM, and it is labelled experimental everywhere.

How it works

Android appBeta · KinBot and the KinVoice demo on your phone

KinShield Beta is a native Android app. Check a text, screenshot or voicemail, share a suspicious message straight from Messages, and get a KinModel score even with no internet.

It’s an early beta for testers, installed from this page rather than Google Play. It uses the same live checks as this site and doesn’t listen to phone calls (Android doesn’t allow that).

Version 0.1.0-beta · 2.3 MB · Android 8.0 or newer

What’s in it

KinBot checks with cited warning signs, Ask Kip, the KinVoice call demo with alerts, and KinModel scoring on the phone.

How to install

Open the downloaded file on your phone and allow “Install unknown apps” for your browser when Android asks.

Play Protect may warn

Apps installed from outside Google Play can show a warning. Choose “Install anyway” only if you got the file from this page.

Beta limits

Tested on the Android emulator, not yet on many real phones. Messages are checked and forgotten, the same as on this site.

Planned pricing · not live

One plan. Both services.

KinShield is pre-launch: nothing here is for sale and we have no paying customers. Everything on this site is free to try today.

KinVoice

  • Calls scored live on Amazon Bedrock
  • Caregiver alerts that quote the exact words
  • FamilyVerify with your trusted contacts
  • Fraud reports ready for the FTC or IC3

KinBot

  • Checks for texts, screenshots and voicemails
  • Link investigator for suspicious websites
  • Ask Kip any scam-safety question
  • Saved check history if you sign in

Later: several protected people on one plan (price to be decided), and plans for senior living, credit unions and benefit plans.

Honest notes

What KinShield is, and isn't

Your message isn’t kept

Messages are checked and forgotten. If you choose to sign in, only each check’s verdict, headline and date are saved, never the message. The call demo keeps only per-session risk events.

It can be wrong

A LOW result doesn't prove something is safe. If money is involved, call back on a number you already trust.

Stock model in the app

The live detector is gpt-oss-20b on Amazon Bedrock with a structured prompt. We also fine-tuned gpt-oss-20b as research (results), but the app doesn't use it yet.

Pre-launch

Everything here is a working demo live on AWS. Nothing is for sale and there are no paying customers yet.

Under the hood

How it runs on AWS

  1. Browser
  2. Amazon API Gateway
  3. AWS Lambda
  4. Amazon Bedrock

On Bedrock, gpt-oss-20b runs the evidence detector and the link-investigator agent, Qwen3-VL reads screenshots, and Mistral Voxtral transcribes voicemails. Amazon Polly voices the demo calls, Amazon DynamoDB keeps per-session risk events, and sign-in through Amazon Cognito is optional.

Real

  • The Bedrock evidence detector and its cited quotes
  • KinBot checks of texts, screenshots and voicemails
  • The link investigator agent
  • KinModel scoring

Simulated

  • Phone-call capture (the demo plays scripted transcripts)
  • Push alerts
  • FamilyVerify
  • Location check

Built and deployed with an AI coding agent for the AWS Zero to Shipped hackathon.
